Family Fun Day at the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art
Nov 9th from 3:00-6:00 pm.
720 S Husband St, Stillwater, OK 74074
Join the OSU Museum of Art and the OSU Office for Student Veteran Success on Tuesday,
November 9 from 3-6 p.m. for a Veteran Family Fun Day. University students, local
veterans and community members are all invited to honor veterans and military service
members at this special event.
Veteran Family Fun Day will feature a variety of activities and stations, including
card-making, letter-writing and paper soldier art making. Those who would like to
donate their card, letter or artwork can leave it with the OSU Museum of Art to be
sent to military members serving abroad through the nonprofit Operation Gratitude
During the event, the museum will also offer short tours of their current exhibitions:
- Red/Green/Cow: An OSU Museum of Art Permanent Collection Exhibition
- Themes on Being: A Mark Sisson Retrospective
- Native American Veteran Artists (Mini Exhibit)
Native American Veteran Artists features artwork by Brummett Echohawk (Pawnee, 1922-2006), Harding Big Bow (Kiowa,
1921-1997) and Jerome Richard Tiger (Muscogee Creek-Seminole, 1941-1967)—all of whom
were also U.S. military veterans. The exhibition acknowledges their artistry, indigenous
culture, and service to their country. The OSU Center for Sovereign Nations is a promotional
partner not only for this exhibition and but also the Veteran Family Fun Day event.
In addition to the day’s activities, participants can also help local veterans in
need by donating hygiene items. Collected items—such as bar soap, toothbrushes, shampoo
and deodorant—will be given to the nonprofit Homeless Military Veterans of Oklahoma City
. Donations will be collected at the OSU Museum of Art during the event and at the
OSU Office for Student Veteran Success throughout the week of November 8-12.
