2 Routes: Become a Public Health ProfessionalNo matter what route you take, remember that every student's pathway to become a public health professional is different. Common routes for OSU students towards professional programs in public health include:
OSU Bachelor's: Public Health
Complete OSU bachelor's degree in Public Health and/or consider a minor in public
health. 4 years at OSU in Public Health
Steps:
- Complete 4 years of study at OSU towards a B.S. in Health Education & Promotion: Public Health or B.S. in Microbiology/Cell & Molecular Biology: Medical Laboratory Sciences.
- Complete Successfully complete 3 years of study at OSU-Stillwater in a "Finish in Five" designated program.
- Apply your junior year at OSU to OSU-CHS' Master of Athletic Training program.
- OSU eligible students must earn a 3.0 or higher
- Qualified applicants will interview with OSU-CHS' Master of Athletic Training Program
- If accepted, you will leave OSU 1 year early to start the Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program at OSU-Center for Health Sciences.
After Your First Year of Master of Athletic Training Program
- Submit your official MAT graduate transcripts to OSU-Stillwater and apply for undergraduate graduation from OSU-Stillwater.
- Upon successful completion of the OSU Master of Athletic Training program, you will be eligible for national certification by successfully completing the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC).
OSU Bachelor's + Master's in Public Health
Complete OSU Bachelor's degree then attend a Masters of Athletic Training Program
- Earn a 4 year bachelor's degree (of your choice) from OSU and complete all of your prerequisite courses for an accredited Master of Athletic Training program (of your choice).
- Apply to an accredited Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program a year before you wish to begin a MAT program and if accepted, begin your Master of Athletic Training professional school program.
- Upon successful completion of a Master of Athletic Training program, you will be eligible for national certification by successfully completing the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC).
*You may opt to complete OSU's graduate certificate in pre-medical sciences, designed to assist in your completion of prerequisite coursework. This a stand alone certificate, not a bachelor's degree or minor. Completion of the certificate, alone, will not automatically make a you more competitive for your particular program of choice.
